What Drew You to Sensat?

Scott's decision to join Sensat was rooted in a drive to solve an industry-wide problem. "I joined Sensat because I was frustrated by how construction lags behind in technology," he explains. "Outside of work, we're surrounded by incredible tech innovations, but it feels like we're years behind in construction. I wanted to be part of changing that."

His new role lets him do exactly that. "As a Customer Success Executive, I get to work with people facing the same challenges I did," Scott says. "I know their pain points, what it's like to manage complex projects, and now I get to offer a solution."

What Surprised You Most About Sensat's Culture?

Scott's first impressions of Sensat's culture couldn't be more positive. "The culture here is strong," he says with a smile. "Everyone genuinely aligns with the mission and believes in what we're building. It's a place where each decision is made with the company's best interest in mind."

He adds that the team's energy and speed struck him. "People here are driven and agile, and things move fast," he observes. "Working in an environment where everyone is ready to adapt and act is exciting. You don't see that kind of momentum everywhere."

One of his favourite aspects of the culture has been Sensat's "Coffee Club," a unique initiative where new employees are paired with different team members for coffee chats. "It's a small thing, but it's a great way to break down barriers and get to know people across the company. It made settling in much easier," he reflects.

How Did You Navigate New Challenges in Your Role?

As Scott transitioned from on-site work to a hybrid role, he encountered new challenges, particularly in communication. "I've always been used to face-to-face discussions and quick decisions on-site," he says. "Shifting to digital communication tools like Slack was an adjustment, but I'm finding my rhythm. It's been interesting learning how to communicate effectively in this setting."

Another learning curve came as he adapted his construction experience to Sensat's broader focus on sectors like energy and water utilities. "I wasn't sure how my commercial and residential construction background would translate," he admits. "But I quickly realised that the same issues exist across all sectors: logistics, health and safety, programme management—it's all the same. That was a bit of a revelation."

What Have Been Your Early Wins?

Scott highlights Sensat's comprehensive onboarding process as a standout experience. "The onboarding was comprehensive," he recalls. "I met with different teams and had a chance to understand the company from day one. Sensat ensured I had the context to get started on the right foot."

Scott dove into a proof-of-value project for a water sector client in his first few weeks. "They needed a way to present complex ecological and logistical data in one place. With Sensat's platform, they could do that seamlessly. Seeing how quickly the platform added value was advantageous," he shares.

Reflecting on that project, Scott says, "I saw the platform solve the problems that took up so much time in my old job. The difference was night and day."

What's Next on Your Sensat Journey?

Scott's primary goals as he continues his journey at Sensat are clear. "I want to become a product expert so I can give our customers the best experience possible," he says. "I'm also excited to spread awareness about the platform because I know firsthand how much it can help people in this industry."

When asked about the impact he hopes to make, Scott is optimistic. "I think I can be a resource not only for commercial and residential projects but for other projects, too. Sensat is a tool that helps people solve complex problems, and I'm thrilled to be a part of that."

Any Advice for Future Sensat Team Members?

As he reflects on his experience, Scott has some advice for anyone considering a role at Sensat. "Be curious and be yourself," he says. "Sensat is a place where people listen to each other's ideas. If you're willing to express your thoughts, you'll be part of something exciting and impactful." And in Scott's own words: "Sensat has been a game-changer. It's rare to find a company with such a strong culture and a clear mission. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
